When are the models updated?
1. The continental model update: at least twice per day;
2. The regional model update: at least twice per day; follows the continental model update calculation;
3. The local adaptation: at the time of the query after the place selection.
MAPS are updated directly from the models, usually 2 times daily. The update timing given is the time of model initialization (when the calculation begins) in UTC.
POINT data is updated at least 4 times daily. For Picto-cast, Tables and SPOT, the update timing is given in local time (valid at the selected location), and shown at the lower edge of the (detail) forecast page. For Meteograms and other prefessional service tools, the update timing is given in UTC, to allow analysis and comparisons across time zones.

Why do forecast latitude and longitude not fit my location?
Soon we will extract our forecasts from our high resolution weather model for Central Europe where possible. Then the distance between desired location and closest forecast point will be below 2.2 km. We will also apply correction algorithms, which are already available for our commercial customers.
Why do the meteoMaps not cover my entire country?
Some domains (like the NMM-03 for Central Europe and the NMM-18 for Subsaharan Africa) do not cover the entire continent, because some areas have less need for high
We get many request for regional maps. We are planning on expanding our map range to cover more areas in detail, and will do that once we have a good solution for presenting more than the current meteoMaps in the navigation. Stay tuned for our News. In the meantime, you can make more regional maps for your area using
What happened to the astronomy seeing prediction?
myMapServer offers an experimental astronomy seeing prediction. Register / log in and navigate to "Astronomy Seeing". Select a location on the map, and click "Make Map". The seeing prediction for your selected location will be produced. Please be patient, as this may take up to a minute to compute.
Seeing2 and seeing1 are two different models to calculate visibility. They differ in the way how atmospheric density gradients influence visibility. Seeing2 gives more weight to the effect of density fluctuations, and is more likely to indicate air "flickering" due to turbulence.
Please add a meteogram for my place
We have streamlined our map production system which was crucial as we produce several ten thousand maps each day. Meteograms are used unevenly, which in the past led us to produce a large number of meteograms that nobody looked at. At the same time we received numerous requests to add meteograms for many different and often very small places.
This was one of the reasons for us to create myMapServer. myMapServer allows you to produce meteograms for any place in Europe, Africa, and South America.
