Extra-tropical cyclone moves towards Western Europe

++Cold air outbreak forecasted for the weekend++

A stable weather pattern with high air pressure above Eastern Europe and several low pressure systems over the Mediterranean Sea predominated during the last weeks. Today, the extra-tropical cyclone ex-Sebastien is located over Ireland and will slowly move from Western Europe towards Northern Europe. This causes windy and unsteady weather conditions in Western and Central Europe until Friday.

Afterwards, the long-lasting warm period ends across large parts of Europe and cold air masses spread into Central Europe, which is in fairly good agreement across all weather models. This results in a high probability of snowfall in the higher altitudes from Friday on.

500hPa (5500m) height pressure on the left side and wind gust speed (km/h) on the right side.
