We are excited to announce a major enhancement to the meteoblue Urban Heat Maps: real-time weather data integration, now available in beta for Verona, Italy. Users can now access actual temperature and precipitation measurements from weather stations distributed across the city, alongside our hyperlocal modelled data at 10x10 metre resolution.
Previously, meteoblue Urban Heat Maps offered detailed modelled temperature data with exceptional spatial resolution, allowing for hyperlocal insights into urban microclimates. This upgrade combines that precision with real-time data from local weather stations. This enables users to compare modelled forecasts with real-time observations, improving accuracy and usability.
The updated map interface includes the following features:
- A toggle button in the top-left corner that allows users to activate or deactivate the real-time weather station data layer.
- Clicking on any weather station icon provides access to an intuitive meteogram, displaying temperature and precipitation data.
These enhancements deliver a clear, comprehensive view of the city's microclimate conditions in an interactive and user-friendly format.
The addition of real-time measurements offers several advantages:
- Enhanced Decision-Making: Real-time data supports smarter planning for daily activities, events, and urban projects.
- Greater Accuracy: Combining modelled data with observations ensures a more precise representation of the urban climate.
- Improved Usability: Interactive tools make exploring and interpreting data intuitive and efficient.
This upgrade is currently available exclusively for Verona as part of a beta rollout. meteoblue plans to expand this feature to additional cities in the near future, enhancing urban climate analysis worldwide.
