Meet meteoblue at Intersolar Europe 2026 in Munich

As weather-dependent generation reshapes the grid, accurate forecasts have become the difference between a well-run energy portfolio and an expensive guess, and the energy team is heading to Munich to talk about it.

From 23 to 25 June, members of the meteoblue team will be at Intersolar Europe in Munich, the world's leading exhibition and conference for the solar industry. For more than three decades, the event has run under the motto "Connecting Solar Business", and it remains the place where the sector takes stock of where solar is heading next.

The world's leading solar exhibition

Intersolar Europe is held at Messe München as part of The smarter E Europe platform, the continent's largest alliance of exhibitions for the energy industry. The 2026 edition is expected to draw around 1,300 exhibitors to the Intersolar halls.

The scope reflects how much the industry has broadened. What began as a photovoltaics fair now spans module technology, energy storage systems, grid integration, hybrid power plants and the financing models that hold large renewable projects together.

It is, in short, the annual meeting point for everyone with a stake in the energy transition: manufacturers, project developers, utilities, installers, investors and start-ups alike.

What the meteoblue team will be discussing

On site to represent the energy team are Michael Bührer, Head of Weather Services, alongside Stefan Bohren and Sokrates Michalis. Across the three days, they will be available to discuss how weather and climate intelligence can sharpen solar and wind power forecasting, assess weather-related operational risks, optimise asset performance and anticipate weather-driven disruptions across entire energy portfolios.

That conversation has rarely been more relevant. The rising share of weather-dependent generation has made accurate forecasting and reliable climate information indispensable. Weather data is now used routinely to estimate renewable output, anticipate fluctuations in supply, manage grid stability and evaluate the future performance of prospective sites.

For operators balancing intermittent generation against firm demand, the quality of that data shapes everything downstream: trading positions, maintenance scheduling, grid commitments and long-term investment decisions. With photovoltaic capacity expanding across Europe and beyond, the question is no longer whether weather matters to an energy portfolio, but how precisely it can be measured and forecast.

Is it possible to include some simple PV forecast for hobby meteorologists with a small PV plant at home? I do it now with the solar hours prediction, but this is a very rough method. Would be really nice! Best, Thorsten from Spain.

Hey Thorsten, detailed PV forecast data is available via the meteoblue Forecast API. For basic, non-automated prognoses, you may also want to have a look at this provider of free PV forecast diagrams for the next few days, based on meteoblue data:
