Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.

Based on the latest guidance, the most likely time period for the heaviest rainfall activity will continue into Saturday. The areas most likely to receive the highest rainfall accumulations are portions of eastern Puerto Rico, as well as Vieques, Culebra, and the US Virgin Islands.
Since 8 AM AST, estimated-rainfall totals around 3-5 inches have been observed in and around Utuado, Ponce, Catano, and Fajardo in Puerto Rico, and 2-4 inches in Saint Croix, US Virgin Islands. Additional rainfall accumulations are expected to range from 2 to 4 inches, especially for the eastern half of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands with isolated higher event-total amounts possible between 6 and 8 inches. Elsewhere, 1 to 3 inches are expected.
Due to already saturated soils, any prolonged period of heavy rainfall will result in urban and small stream flooding. Some rivers will likely overflow their banks. Therefore, Isolated life threatening flash flooding and mudslides are possible as well.
