HOT, DRY, AND WINDY FRIDAY AND SATURDAY
- Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop across far eastern Oregon and western Idaho on Thursday. Storms will be capable of frequent lightning, gusty outflow winds, and only sporadic wetting rains. While the thunderstorm threat will end by Friday and Saturday, hot, dry, and windy conditions will develop, primarily across southeast Oregon and the higher terrain of southwest Idaho. The driest and windiest day at this time is expected on Saturday.
The National Weather Service in Boise has issued a Red Flag Warning for lightning, which is in effect from noon today to 9 PM MDT this evening.

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.
