Inland areas and areas of western Cape York Peninsula will see maximum temperatures in the high thirties to low forties and overnight minimum temperatures in the mid twenties. Elevated areas and areas closer to the northeast coast will see maximum temperatures ranging from the high twenties to high thirties with overnight minimum temperatures in the high teens to mid twenties. Severe to extreme heatwave conditions will persist over the weekend and through next week. Locations likely to be impacted include Aurukun, Georgetown, Kowanyama, Pormpuraaw and Weipa.
