Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.

- Periods of moderate to heavy rain and a few thunderstorms continue overnight into Wednesday afternoon. Rainfall rates may reach as high as 1 to 2 inches per hour within the heaviest and most persistent downpours.
Despite recent dry conditions, such high rainfall rates in a short period of time can result in flash flooding, especially in urban and poor drainage areas and where heavy rain repeatedly impacts a given area. An additional 1 to 2 inches of rain is expected for most areas in the flood watch, with locally higher amounts possible.
