...EASTERN YAP STATE AND CHUUK STATE ARE THE AREAS OF CONCERN...
A tropical disturbance, Invest 90W, continues to meander east of Chuuk. Winds around this circulation will interact with a southerly to southwesterly cross-equatorial flow to produce an unusual, but note-worthy southwesterly swell of 2 to 4 feet. While this occurs, a nearby surface trough that extends east from 90W through Pohnpei and Majuro, will allow a circulation east of Majuro to head west and potentially "link up" with 90W sometime next week. This would allow for locally heavy showers to continue through Monday, possibly longer.
THE WEATHER "WRAP-UP" IN A "NUTSHELL"
-
Periods of LOCALLY HEAVY showers will continue through Monday. Rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches, locally up to 6 inches, remain possible through Monday.
-
Heavier showers may produce an isolated wind gust of 25 knots.
-
An atypical south to southwest wind will continue through at least Monday, possibly longer, accompanied by a southwest swell of 2 to 4 feet.
-
Minor coastal erosion is possible for south through west-facing reefs.
