Another trough will linger for several days across southern and central Queensland, drawing deep tropical moisture more broadly across the state. These features are expected to enhance shower and storm activity over multiple days. Moderate to heavy falls are likely across the Flood Watch area for the remainder of Friday, slowly moving to the north into the weekend. Catchments are beginning to become wet due to rainfall on Thursday and Friday morning, with river level rises and areas of flooding likely across the Flood Watch area. Minor to moderate flooding is possible from Friday afternoon and over the weekend, with rapid river level rises possible in areas that receive the heaviest rainfall. Heavy rainfall may cause significant flash flooding, including over densely populated areas within the Flood Watch. There remains significant uncertainty in the location and timing of the heaviest falls, particularly over the weekend. The situation will be monitored closely and Flood Warnings issued as required.
