A flood alert has been issued. Property flooding is not currently expected. River levels are high on the River Coln following rainfall over recent months and high groundwater levels. Flooding of low lying land and roads is expected to continue over the coming days, especially in the Fairford area. The weather forecast for this week is unsettled. Showers are possible each day, with potentially heavier showers on Saturday 18th and Tuesday 21st. River levels are expected to remain high and will be sensitive to further rainfall. We are monitoring the situation. Avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses. Go to the 'River and Sea levels in England' webpage for current river levels. An area of rain is expected to develop across eastern and central England and then move northwestwards to affect northern England and north Wales during Wednesday afternoon. The area of rain could then become slow moving, heavy and persistent, especially over north facing hills, before clearing during Thursday morning.
