At 337 PM MDT, A band of moderate to locally heavy rain is streaming across northern Grant and far northern Hidalgo County. Flooding is likely to occur in several arroyos, creeks, and streams in the area, and may travel into areas which received relatively light rainfall.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain. Arroyos, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.

IMPACTS: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded.

- Tropical moisture will be transported northward ahead of decaying Tropical Cyclone Polo today, bringing widespread showers and thunderstorms to the region. High rainfall rates and repeated rounds of rain up to 4 inches may result in instances of flash flooding. Heavy rainfall from last week has saturated soils and will elevate the flood threat further into Wednesday morning.
