CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS FRIDAY ACROSS PORTIONS OF NORTHEASTERN WYOMING AND WESTERN SOUTH DAKOTA
- Well above average temperatures again Friday with a very dry airmass in place. Poor overnight humidity recovery tonight, especially across the Black Hills. Daytime minimum relative humidity Friday will be around 10 percent across the southwestern portion of the warned area with 15 to 20 percent across the northern portion. Winds will be strongest across the northwestern South Dakota plains where gusts up to 30 mph are likely. Elsewhere, ample mixing (mixing heights in excess of 10k feet.) will support gusts to 25 mph, although confidence in critical winds from Pine Ridge to Martin is lower.
The National Weather Service in Rapid City has issued a Red Flag Warning for gusty winds and low relative humidity, which is in effect from 10 AM to 9 PM MDT Friday.
