RIVER LEVEL RISES AND AREAS OF FLOODING ARE EXPECTED ACROSS THE FLOOD WATCH AREA FROM SATURDAY INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK A broad trough extends over central parts of the Northern Territory, with an embedded low deepening over the southeast Barkly District. This system is likely to be slow-moving over the next few days, bringing widespread heavy rainfall, with isolated heavier falls across the Flood Watch Area. This rainfall will result in river and creek level rises and areas of flooding from Saturday across the Barkly and Georgina River catchments. In the MacDonnell Ranges, Finke River, Stephenson Creek, Simpson Desert, and Central Desert catchments, flooding is possible from Monday onwards. Catchments are already wet across the Flood Watch Area and will respond to further rainfall. The accumulated rainfall over the next few days will be significant. River and creek level rises, localised flooding, and overland inundation are expected across parts of the Flood Watch Area. Six-hourly rainfall totals between 60 and 90 mm are likely, with localised falls to 140 mm possible. 24-hourly rainfall totals between 125 and 150 mm are likely, with localised falls to 200 mm possible.
DAMAGING WIND GUSTS of about 90 km/h are possible with/near showers and thunderstorms.
