THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 452 IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT CDT TONIGHT FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN MINNESOTA THIS WATCH INCLUDES 3 COUNTIES IN NORTH CENTRAL MINNESOTA CASS ITASCA KOOCHICHING THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF CASS LAKE, EAST GULL LAKE, ESTERDY, GRAND RAPIDS, INTERNATIONAL FALLS, LAKE SHORE, PINE RIVER, SCHLEY, AND WALKER. THIS ALSO INCLUDES THE TRIBAL LANDS OF THE BOIS FORTE BAND, NETT LAKE AND, DEER CREEK AREAS.

Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts and damaging hail.
Hazards: Wind gusts up to 90 km/h. Nickel to golf ball size hail. Risk of tornadoes.
Timing: Continuing this evening.
Discussion: Conditions are favourable for severe thunderstorms, with wind and large hail being the most likely hazards. If thunderstorms develop they may persist into the overnight as they move east.
Very large hail can damage property, break windows, dent vehicles and cause serious injury. Very strong wind gusts can damage buildings, down trees and blow large vehicles off the road. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes.
Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
