Locations which may be affected include Warwick, Toowoomba, Brisbane, Dalby, Maroochydore, Gympie, Ipswich, Kingaroy, Cleveland, Gatton, Jimboomba and Caboolture. VERY DANGEROUS THUNDERSTORMS are likely to produce large, possibly giant hailstones, damaging, locally destructive winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding over the next several hours in parts of the Wide Bay and Burnett and Southeast Coast districts. Locations which may be affected include Maroochydore, Gympie, Kingaroy, Noosa Heads, Cherbourg and Yarraman. Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in the North Tropical Coast and Tablelands, Herbert and Lower Burdekin, Capricornia and Maranoa and Warrego districts and the warning for these districts is CANCELLED. 4 TO 5 CM HAIL REPORTED NEAR NANANGO AT APPROXIMATELY 5:10 PM. 3 TO 7 CM HAIL REPORTED AT REDCLIFFE APPROXIMATELY 3:00 PM. 5 TO 7 CM HAIL REPORTED AT LAIDLEY CREEK AT APPROXIMATELY 2:30 PM. 4 cm hail reported near Nanango at approximately 5:10 pm. 2 to 3 cm hail reported at Yarrabilba at approximately 3:50 pm. 3 cm hail reported at Peregian at 2:05 pm. 4 cm hail reported near Gatton at 1:50 pm.
Emergency services advise people to: * If you have children make sure they are with you or an adult you trust. * Pack away, secure or tie down outdoor furniture, toys and trampolines if it s safe to do so. * Stay away from windows if there is giant hail. * Park your car undercover away from trees. * Close doors and windows. * Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks. * Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out. * Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost. * Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous. * Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area. * Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.
