The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has extended the

  • Flash Flood Warning for, The Hermits Peak and Calf Canyon burn scar in, Northwestern San Miguel County in northeastern New Mexico,

  • Until 600 AM MDT.

  • At 353 AM MDT, Due to a continued risk of flooding, there is a mandatory evacuation for the following areas: NM State Highway 65 from Mile Marker 4 south along Hot Springs Blvd, the Las Vigiles area, Fountain Drive, Willow Lane, Stella Lane, Lucille Drive, Llano Road, and Cinder Road to Mills Avenue.

Two shelters have been set up. On the east side of Las Vegas, proceed to McFarland Hall at the corner of 5th and Friedman streets. On the west side, the Las Vegas Senior Center at 500 Sabino Street (not the recreation center) is open.

While it is currently not raining, between 1 and 4 inches of rain have fallen from earlier thunderstorms. Flooded creeks and low water crossings are likely to persist through the early morning hours.
