From 14:00 (06/05/2024) minor flooding could affect fields, rural roads, gardens and approach properties at Bridge Cottage and Dean's Water Mill at Lindfield Bridge on the B2028 near Lindfield, and Freshfield Mill Farm, Freshmill and Millers Cottages on Sloop Lane. Roads at Fletching Mill Bridge and Sharpsbridge will be affected. From 20:00 (06/05/2024) Barcombe Mills road could be impassable. Flooding could also affect the Anchor Inn and properties at Barcombe Mills. Rain will continue until 16:00 (06/05/2024). Another 10mm of rain could yet fall. The river should begin to fall by 04:00 (07/05/2024) near Ardingly, but not until midday Tuesday near Barcombe. River levels could remain higher than normal until Wednesday (08/05/2024). Please plan to avoid driving through routes vulnerable to flooding such as Barcombe Mills Road. We are operating our structures at Pimms Lock and Barcombe to help keep the river flowing freely. Rain will finally clear the area from 20:00 (06/05/2024), and high pressure, bringing settled and dry weather, is then forecast for the next five days. The river should begin to fall by 21:00 (06/05/2024), and should fall nearer to normal by 10:00 (07/05/2024). Riverside properties at Dean's Water Mill and Lindfield Bridge are encouraged to install flood protection products if you have them, and take steps to reduce the impact of flooding. From 15:00 (06/05/2024) flooding could affect the A281 at Mock Bridge, near Shermanbury. As well as extensive water in fields, flooding could also affect gardens of properties near Mock Bridge and may begin to approach buildings too. Rain will continue until 16:00 (06/05/2024). Another 10mm of rain could yet fall. The river might not begin to fall until 08:00 (07/05/2024), and might not fall nearer to normal until Wednesday (08/05/2024). River levels are likely to peak higher than 29 April 2024. Some roads, including the A281 at Mock Bridge, may become impassable. Please plan to avoid driving through routes vulnerable to flooding. Rain has now cleared the area, and high pressure, bringing settled and dry weather, is now forecast for the next five days. The river should begin to fall by 04:00 (07/05/2024), near Sloop Lane, but not until midday Tuesday nearer Barcombe. River levels might not return nearer to normal until 11:00 Wednesday (08/05/2024). River levels could end up higher than they have been all winter. Some roads including Fletching Mill Bridge and Sharpsbridge may become impassable.
