Severe heatwave conditions are expected to affect Queensland from Tuesday 25 November 2025 to Friday 28 November 2025
Maximum temperatures in the low forties over western and central areas with overnight minimum temperatures in the mid twenties. In the east maximum temperatures in the low to mid thirties with overnight minimum temperatures in the high teens to mid twenties. Severe heatwave conditions are expected to contract from western parts of the State over the coming days, and ease over the weekend in the east. Locations likely to be impacted include Brisbane Metropolitan Area, Birdsville, Bundaberg, Gladstone, Gympie, Ipswich, Longreach, Mackay, Roma and Winton.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding over the next several hours in parts of the Herbert and Lower Burdekin, Central Coast and Whitsundays, Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders and Central Highlands and Coalfields districts. Locations which may be affected include Collinsville and Mingela. Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds over the next several hours in parts of the Darling Downs and Granite Belt and Southeast Coast districts. Locations which may be affected include Warwick, Stanthorpe, Goondiwindi, Inglewood, Texas and Millmerran. 107 km/h wind gust recorded at Goondiwindi Airport at 6:26 pm.
Emergency services advise people to: * Park your car undercover away from trees. * Close doors and windows. * Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks. * Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out. * Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost. * Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous. * Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area. * Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.
