A flood alert has been issued. River levels remain high on the Lower Hampshire Avon due to high groundwater levels. Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the River Avon, with low lying land expected to be most affected, particularly around tributaries between Ringwood and Christchurch. The forecast is for showers overnight. Please avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses and do not attempt to walk, cycle or drive through flood water. We will continue to monitor the weather and this message will be updated by 5:00 PM on 03/05/2024, or as the situation changes.

- Check that you know how to turn off your gas, electricity and water mains supplies.
- In rural locations, farmers should consider moving livestock and equipment away from areas likely to flood.
- Avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water - 30 cm of fast-flowing water can move a car and 6 inches can knock an adult off their feet.
- Flood water is dangerous and may be polluted. Wash your hands thoroughly if you’ve been in contact with it.
