FURTHER FLOODING POSSIBLE ACROSS PARTS OF THE NORTH EAST QUEENSLAND COAST Isolated heavy rainfall is forecast to continue over parts of the North East Tropical Coast during Monday and ease from Tuesday. However, further heavy rainfall may redevelop across the flood watch area from later in the week. Elevated river levels and areas of flooding are occurring in catchments across the North East Tropical Coast. Further rainfall during Monday and into Tuesday may cause continued river level rises across the Flood Watch area, as well as areas localised flooding. Catchments are wet following recent rainfall and will respond quickly to further rainfall.

Minor flooding is occurring along the upper Thomson River at Camoola Park and is possible at Longreach. As at 06:00 pm AEST Monday morning, the Thomson River at Camoola Park was at 2.75 m and rising, with minor flooding. The Thomson River at Camoola Park is likely to remain above the minor flood level (2.00 m) for the remainder of Monday into Tuesday. Further rises are possible as upstream flows arrive. The Thomson River at Longreach is currently at 1.51 m and rising, below the minor flood level. The Thomson River at Longreach may exceed the minor flood level (3.30 m) from Tuesday 06 January. Further rises are possible as upstream flows arrive.
