Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.

- At 1057 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Up to 3 inches of rain have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts up to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include, Venice, Myakka River State Park, Lake Sarasota, Gator Creek Estate, Hidden River, Bee Ridge, Oscar Scherer State Park, Vamo, Osprey, Laurel, Nokomis, Venice Gardens and South Venice.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
