There is increasing confidence that an atmospheric river will bring periods of moderate to heavy rainfall aimed primarily at the southern panhandle Monday night and lasting into Wednesday. Total rainfall from Monday night through Wednesday morning could range from 2 to 5 inches. The heaviest rainfall is expected to occur Tuesday morning through Tuesday afternoon, with a second surge Wednesday morning. Snow levels rising up to 5000 to 7000 ft through the event combined with saturated ground from rainfall over the weekend could lead to enhanced snowmelt and runoff and contribute to rapid river/stream rises. Localized ponding of water is likely, however no widespread flooding is expected across the area at this time.
