  • Affected Area: Fire Weather Zone 437 Humboldt County-Quinn, Fire Weather Zone 438 W Elko County, N Eureka and Lander Counties N of I80, Fire Weather Zone 469 Central Elko County and Fire Weather Zone 470 Eastern Elko County.
  • WIND: Sustained winds up to 15-25 mph, gusts 25-30 mph this afternoon. Sustained winds up to 20-25 mph, gusts 35-40 mph Saturday.

  • HUMIDITY: Humidity as low as 10-15% today. 19-22% Saturday.

  • HIGHEST THREAT: Highest threat will be in fire zones 437 and 469 due to active wildfires in the area along with high winds.

ESFLKN A low pressure system over the Pacific Northwest will drop southward into Northern California Sunday. This storm system will draw abundant atmospheric moisture associated with Tropical Storm Rachel northward into Eastern Nevada, resulting in the likelihood of rain Sunday and Sunday night. Slow storm motions and/or training cells may produce heavy rainfall and localized flooding. Of particular concern are recent, large burn scars, including the Ward fire south of Ely and the Oxley fire north of Wells. Numerous smaller burn scare from this fire season also remain vulnerable to flash flooding and debris flow. Residents near burn scars should have multiple ways to receive Flash Flood Warning and be prepared to act quickly. Travelers and recreationists should also remain alert and consider alternate plans.
