  • A weather pattern conducive for large fire growth will continue through Wednesday as a broad trough remains over the western United States keeping the flow over New Mexico dry and windy. The strongest winds are forecast along and east of the central mountain chain today, over northern areas and the central mountains and highlands Tuesday, then along and east of the central mountain chain again Wednesday. Most lower elevation locations east of the continental divide will experience between 5 and 10 hours of single digit humidities on Tuesday.

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Red Flag Warning,which is in effect from 10 AM to 9 PM MDT today and Tuesday. The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect for Tuesday.

  • AREA AND TIMING: Northwest Plateau (Zone 101), West Central Mountains (Zone 105), Middle Rio Grande Valley (Zone 106), West Central Basin and Range (Zone 109), North Central Mountains (Zone 120), and the Upper Rio Grande and Lower Chama River Valleys (Zone 121) from 10 AM until 9 PM today and Tuesday.

  • 20 FOOT WINDS: For today, west and northwest 20 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. For Tuesday, west 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph.
