Here is the latest Tropical Cyclone Warning Bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory. The Strong Wind Signal, No. 3 is in force. This means that winds with mean speeds of 41 to 62 kilometres per hour are expected. At 7 p.m., Tropical Storm Tapah was estimated to be about 320 kilometres west-northwest of Hong Kong (near 23.3 degrees north 111.3 degrees east) and is forecast to move northwest at about 15 kilometres per hour into inland Guangxi. In the past few hours, Tapah continued to move away from Hong Kong. Local winds also weakened gradually. When Tapah poses less threat to Hong Kong, the Observatory will issue the Standby Signal, No. 1 or cancel all Tropical Cyclone Warning Signals. The outer rainbands of Tapah are expected to bring occasional squally showers and thunderstorms to Hong Kong tonight and tomorrow. Showers will be heavier in some areas at first. Seas will be rough with swells. Members of the public are advised to stay away from the shoreline and not to engage in water sports. In the past hour, the maximum sustained winds recorded at Ngong Ping, Cheung Chau and Green Island were 69, 54 and 54 kilometres per hour with maximum gusts exceeding 96, 69 and 69 kilometres per hour respectively.
