Instructions:

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

  • WHERE: Portions of southwest Minnesota, including the following counties, Nobles and Rock and southeast South Dakota, including the following county, Minnehaha.

  • WHEN: Until 1245 PM CDT Tuesday.

  • IMPACTS: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.

  • ADDITIONAL DETAILS:

    • At 1238 PM CDT, emergency management reported that flooding from earlier heavy rainfall continues. Numerous county roads remain under water near small creeks and poor drainage areas, although some areas have seen water recede. Between 3 and 10 inches of rain had fallen late last week.
    • Flooding impacts will continue, but should continue to slowly improve. The chance for rainfall the next three days is low.
    • Some locations that will experience flooding include, Sioux Falls, Worthington, Luverne, Brandon, Hartford, Crooks, Adrian, Garretson, Wall Lake, Baltic, Valley Springs, Colton, Hills, Humboldt, Brewster, Ellsworth, Leota, Round Lake, Rushmore and Wilmont.
