Increasing clouds will cool daytime high temperatures back into the 50s through midweek near Glennallen, however, low temperatures will remain near freezing during this time, allowing snowmelt to continue in the Moose Creek Basin. Runoff from snowmelt is still expected to keep Moose Creek elevated during the week with flooding possible.

  • WHAT: Flooding caused by snowmelt continues to be possible.

  • WHERE: The following area, Copper River Basin. This includes the city of Glennallen.

  • WHEN: Through Wednesday evening.

  • IMPACTS: Excessive runoff from snowmelt may result in Moose Creek near Glennallen rising out of its banks. Flooding of Glenn Highway is possible near Moose Creek.

  • ADDITIONAL DETAILS:

    • Snowmelt in the Copper River Valley, in and around the Moose Creek Basin in Glennallen, can be expected to cause rises on Moose Creek over the next several days. Snowmelt flooding will be possible in Glennallen, specifically around the Glenn Highway as high flows from snowmelt move down Moose Creek and under the highway. People in the area should prepare for high water and move belongings in the floodplain to higher ground.
