WHAT: Dangerous rip currents expected.
-
WHERE: Walton, Bay, Gulf, and Franklin County Beaches.
-
WHEN: Through late Sunday night.
-
IMPACTS: Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water.
-
ADDITIONAL DETAILS: Rip Current Statement was extended through this weekend given the persistent southerly swell attendant to a 7-8 second wave period and 2-ft surf heights. By Sunday, a turn to southwesterly winds induces an onshore flow to reinforce the high risk.

Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.
