THE LOW PRESSURE AREA OVER THE EAST OF EXTREME NORTHERN LUZON DEVELOPED INTO TROPICAL DEPRESSION “PILANDOK”. Location of eye/center : The center of Tropical Depression PILANDOK was estimated based on all available data at at 1,210 km East of Extreme Northern Luzon (20.8, 133.6). Strength : Maximum winds of 45 kph near the centerand gustiness of up to 55 kph. Forecast movement : Forecast to move West Northwestward at 15 kph Forecast position : Aug 30, 2026 08:00 PM - 1,140 km East of Extreme Northern Luzon Aug 31, 2026 08:00 AM - 1,000 km East of Extreme Northern Luzon Aug 31, 2026 08:00 PM - 890 km East Northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon Sep 01, 2026 08:00 AM - 885 km East Northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND AREAS Heavy Rainfall Outlook Refer to Weather Advisory No. 31 issued at 11:00 AM today for the heavy rainfall outlook due to the Southwest Monsoon. Severe Winds The enhanced Southwest Monsoon will bring strong to gale-force gusts over the following areas (especially in coastal and upland areas exposed to winds): Today (30 August): Most of Luzon and Visayas, Zamboanga del Norte, Misamis Occidental, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Oriental, Camiguin, Dinagat Islands, Davao Occidental, and Davao Oriental. Tomorrow (31 August): Most of the country Tuesday (01 September): Most of Luzon and Visayas, Zamboanga del Norte, Misamis Occidental, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Oriental, Camiguin, Dinagat Islands, Davao Occidental, and Davao Oriental. HAZARDS AFFECTING COASTAL WATERS 24-Hour Sea Condition Outlook Up to rough seas over the following coastal waters: Up to 3.5 m: The seaboards of Batanes, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, and Zambales; the northern and western seaboards of Babuyan Islands; the western seaboard of Pangasinan. Up to 3.0 m: The seaboard of Lubang Islands; the western seaboard of northern La Union, Bataan, northern Occidental Mindoro, and Kalayaan Islands. Mariners of small seacrafts, including all types of motorbancas, are advised not to venture out to sea under these conditions, especially if inexperienced or operating ill-equipped vessels. Up to moderate seas over the following coastal waters: Up to 2.5 m: The western seaboards of Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, northern Palawan including Calamian Islands; the eastern seaboard of Davao Oriental; the remaining seaboards of La Union and Kalayaan Islands. Up to 2.0 m: The seaboards of Isabela and Surigao del Sur; the southern seaboards of Cuyo Islands, Antique, Iloilo, and Guimaras; the western seaboard of Negros Occidental; the remaining western seaboard of mainland Palawan. Mariners of motorbancas and similarly sized vessels are advised to take precautionary measures while venturing out to sea and, if possible, avoid navigation under these conditions. Other coastal waters have forecast wave heights of less than 2.0 m. TRACK AND INTENSITY OUTLOOK It must be emphasized that heavy rainfall and severe winds may still be experienced in localities outside the landfall point and the forecast confidence cone. Refer to “Other Hazards affecting Land Areas” for more details. Furthermore, the track may still shift within the limit of the forecast confidence cone. PILANDOK is forecast to continue moving west northwestward from today until tomorrow (30 August) before turning northwestward to north northwestward for the remaining of the forecast period. This tropical cyclone is less likely to make landfall over the country and will remain far from the Philippine landmass. PILANDOK is expected to be a short-lived tropical cyclone and is forecast to remain a tropical depression throughout the forecast period before weakening into a remnant low over the Philippine Sea south of the southern islands of Japan on Tuesday (01 September).
