Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sunshine, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS: While the weather is nice for beachgoers, dangerous rip currents will lurk just below the surface, despite surf of only around 2 feet. Beachgoers should take note of all beach flags and follow the orders of beach safety officials. Double Red Flags mean that the water is closed to the public, due to numerous and life-threatening rip currents, but the beach remains open. Do not enter the water under Double Red Flags.

Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.
