The National Weather Service in State College has issued a

  • Flash Flood Warning for, Sullivan County in north central Pennsylvania,

  • Until 915 PM EDT.

  • At 516 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

IMPACT,Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

  • Some locations that will experience flash flooding include, Lincoln Falls, Muncy Valley, Kettle Creek Gorge, Shunk, Dushore, Laporte, Forksville, Eagles Mere and Hillsgrove.

Instructions:

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.

    • Scattered to numerous heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected into tonight. Efficient rainfall rates of up to 1.50 inches per hour along with repeat rounds of rain could result in flash flooding across the area.
