THE LOW PRESSURE AREA EAST OF EXTREME NORTHERN LUZON DEVELOPED INTO TROPICAL DEPRESSION NENENG. Location of eye/center : The center of Tropical Depression NENENG was estimated based on all available data at at 1,025 km East of Extreme Northern Luzon (20.4, 131.8). Strength : Maximum winds of 45 kph near the centerand gustiness of up to 55 kph. Forecast movement : Forecast to move Northwestward at 20 kph Forecast position : Aug 19, 2026 02:00 AM - 735 km East Northeast of Basco, Batanes Aug 19, 2026 02:00 PM - 535 km East Northeast of Itbayat, Batanes Aug 20, 2026 02:00 AM - 415 km North Northeast of Itbayat, Batanes Aug 20, 2026 02:00 PM - 450 km North of Itbayat, Batanes HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND AREAS Heavy Rainfall Outlook Refer to Weather Advisory No. 68 issued at 5:00 PM today for the heavy rainfall outlook due to the Southwest Monsoon. Severe Winds The enhanced Southwest Monsoon will bring strong to gale-force gusts over the following areas (especially in coastal and upland areas exposed to winds): Today (18 August): Most of the country. Tomorrow (19 August): Most of Luzon and Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, and Davao Region. Thursday (20 August): Most of Luzon and Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, and Davao Region HAZARDS AFFECTING COASTAL WATERS 24-Hour Sea Condition Outlook Up to rough seas over the following coastal waters: Up to 3.5 m: The seaboards of Zambales and Lubang Islands; the western seaboards of Pangasinan and Bataan. Up to 3.0 m: The seaboards of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, and Kalayaan Islands; the western seaboards of Babuyan Islands, Occidental Mindoro, Calamian Islands, northern Palawan, and Davao Oriental. Mariners of motorbancas and similarly sized vessels are advised to take precautionary measures while venturing out to sea and, if possible, avoid navigation under these conditions. Up to moderate seas over the following coastal waters: Up to 2.5 m: The seaboards of La Union and Surigao del Sur; the western seaboards of Batanes, Cavite, Batangas, and mainland Palawan. Up to 2.0 m: The seaboards of Isabela, northern Aurora, Romblon, Cuyo Islands, Cagayancillo Islands, Antique, and Davao Occidental; the northern seaboards of Camarines Norte and Camarines Sur; the northern and eastern seaboards of Catanduanes and northern Samar; the eastern seaboards of Albay, Sorsogon, Eastern Samar, Dinagat Islands, and Siargao-Bucas Grande Islands; the southern seaboards of Marinduque, Quezon, Iloilo, Guimaras, and Davao Oriental; the western seaboard of Negros Occidental; the remaining seaboards of Batanes, Pangasinan, Calamian Islands, and northern Palawan. Mariners of motorbancas and similarly sized vessels are advised to take precautionary measures while venturing out to sea and, if possible, avoid navigation under these conditions. Other coastal waters have forecast wave heights of less than 2.0 m. TRACK AND INTENSITY OUTLOOK It must be emphasized that heavy rainfall and severe winds may still be experienced in localities outside the landfall point and the forecast confidence cone. Refer to “Other Hazards affecting Land Areas” for more details. Furthermore, the track may still shift within the limit of the forecast confidence cone. NENENG will continue moving generally west northwestward throughout the forecast period. This tropical cyclone is less likely to make landfall over the country and will remain far from the Philippine landmass. NENENG is expected to be a short-lived tropical cyclone and is forecast to remain a tropical depression throughout the forecast period before weakening into a remnant low over Taiwan on Thursday (20 August).
