The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has issued an Ozone Action Day for the Houston, Galveston, and Brazoria area for Tuesday, May 14, 2024.

Atmospheric conditions are expected to be favorable for producing high levels of ozone pollution in the Houston, Galveston, and surrounding areas on Tuesday. You can help prevent ozone pollution by sharing a ride, walking, riding a bicycle, taking your lunch to work, avoiding drive through lanes, conserving energy and keeping your vehicle properly tuned.

At 441 PM CDT, emergency management reported a cluster of strong thunderstorms along a line extending from South Belt / Ellington to near San Luis Pass to 10 miles southeast of Surfside Beach. Movement was east at 50 mph.

  • WHEN: Until 730 PM CDT.

  • IMPACTS: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.

  • ADDITIONAL DETAILS:

    • At 417 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Up to 2 inches of rain have fallen.
    • Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.
