We are currently tracking a low that is expected to move north-northeast just off the coast of the YK Delta Monday night into Tuesday. There is still some uncertainty regarding the exact strength & track. A stronger low would allow for a more westward track, which could bring some low-end high surf conditions across more of the West Coast. As of right now, the southern portion of the YK Delta coast could see water levels rise to around 2 to 3 feet above the mean high water line. This would just be under high surf criteria for these locations. This will continue to be monitored closely.
-
WHAT: Water levels of 2 to 4 feet above the mean high tide line.
-
WHERE: Hooper Bay and Scammon Bay.
-
WHEN: From 4 AM Tuesday to 1 AM AKDT Wednesday.
-
IMPACTS: Localized beach erosion may occur. In Scammon Bay, water may reach up to the boat launch.
-
ADDITIONAL DETAILS: Water may rise along the Kun River and typical low lying areas may see minor inundation.
