At 223 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain across the warned area. Between 4 and 7 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 0.5 to 1 inch in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable.

- Periods of moderate to heavy rain and a few thunderstorms continue through this afternoon. Rainfall rates may reach as high as 1 to 2 inches per hour within the heaviest and most persistent downpours.
Despite recent dry conditions, such high rainfall rates in a short period of time can result in flash flooding, especially in urban and poor drainage areas and where heavy rain repeatedly impacts a given area. An additional 1 to 3 inches of rain is expected for most areas in the flood watch, with locally higher amounts possible of 3-5 inches across the southern Greens, Berkshires and Litchfield County, Connecticut.
