A flood alert has been issued. Property flooding is not currently expected. River levels are rising slowly on the River Cherwell as a result of previous heavy rainfall moving through the system. Therefore, flooding of low lying land and roads is expected this evening, 25/05/2024, especially in the Thrupp area near the River Cherwell. The forecast is for widespread rain overnight, and patchy showers throughout the day on Sunday. River levels are sensitive to further rainfall. We are monitoring the situation. Our staff are checking and clearing trash screens. Avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses. Go to the 'River and Sea levels in England' webpage for current river levels. This message will be updated tomorrow morning, 26/05/2024, or as the situation changes.
