Satellite imagery and doppler radar indicated strong thunderstorm development across the nearshore and offshore Atlantic waters. These thunderstorms are capable of producing winds to around 30 knots, frequent lightning, and torrential rain. Waterspouts are possible. The strongest thunderstorms are occurringalong a line, extending from northwestern Puerto Rico northward to 19.5 N, moving east-southeast at 15-20 knots.
Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until these storms pass.

Based on the latest guidance, the most likely time period for the heaviest rainfall activity is Friday afternoon into Saturday. The areas most likely to receive the highest rainfall accumulations are portions of the southeast and east sections of Puerto Rico, as well as Vieques, Culebra and the US Virgin Islands.
Rainfall accumulations are expected to range from 2 to 4 inches, especially for the eastern half of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands with isolated higher amounts possible between 6 and 8 inches. Elsewhere, 1 to 3 inches are expected.
