  • WHAT: Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.

  • WHERE: James River near Scotland.

  • WHEN: Until Wednesday, July 03.

  • IMPACTS: At 20.0 feet, Highway 44 between Parkston and Freeman, Highway 46 west of Irene, Stone Church Road between Highway 46 and Menno, Highway 81 north of Yankton, and the Jamesville Colony Road in northern Yankton County will all be flooded.

  • ADDITIONAL DETAILS:

    • At 7:30 AM CDT Tuesday the stage was 19.5 feet.
    • Recent Activity: The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 7:30 AM CDT Tuesday was 19.9 feet.
    • Forecast: The river is expected to fall below flood stage Tuesday, July 02 and continue falling to 12.9 feet Tuesday, July 02.
    • Flood stage is 13.0 feet.
