THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 245 IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN NORTH CAROLINA THIS WATCH INCLUDES 11 COUNTIES IN CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA ANSON CUMBERLAND HARNETT HOKE LEE MONTGOMERY MOORE RICHMOND SAMPSON SCOTLAND STANLY THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF ABERDEEN, ALBEMARLE, ANGIER, BUIES CREEK, CAMP MACKALL, CARTHAGE, CLINTON, DUNN, ELLERBE, ERWIN, FAYETTEVILLE, HOPE MILLS, LAURINBURG, LILLINGTON, PINEHURST, POLKTON, RAEFORD, ROCKINGHAM, ROSEBORO, SANFORD, SOUTHERN PINES, SPRING LAKE, TROY, WADESBORO, AND WAGRAM.
At 545 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Wadesboro, moving southeast at 20 mph.
HAZARD,Wind gusts up to 40 mph and nickel size hail.

IMPACT,Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible.
Locations impacted include, Rockingham, Wadesboro, Hamlet, Polkton, Ellerbe, Dobbins Heights, Lilesville, Morven, Peachland, and McFarlan.
