StuMeTa in Innsbruck

meteoblue supported this year’s Student Meteorology Conference (StuMeTa) in Innsbruck (Austria) with a donation.

The StuMeTa (Student Meteorology Conference/ Conference of Meteorology students) has been taking place since 1984. It is hosted by different universities in the German-speaking countries and is organised by its students. The focus is on the exchange among the students and further education through lectures and excursions.

In May 2023, it took place in Innsbruck, Austria, for the first time, and meteoblue was happy to support the StuMeTa with a donation.
More than 150 students from various cities took part in the 5-day event. It was filled with activities, including meteorology-related workshops and classes on e.g. avalanches and turbulence over complex terrain. Several excursions were offered, such as visiting Innsbruck airport, a silver mine and a hike to the "Föhn" mountain of Innsbruck, the Patscherkofel.

In addition to the professional input, the participants were also offered a leisure programme, allowing them to experience Innsbruck in a new way. A barbecue with the best panoramic view, a pub crawl and a quiz were organised. The quiz winners were rewarded with point+ and history+ subscriptions sponsored by meteoblue. point+ is our website subscription providing access to premium weather content on our website, such as astronomy seeing information, agricultural forecast data or aviation-specific weather forecasts.
The winners of the history+ subscriptions can access historical weather data through our data downloading interface and conduct specific analysis with various tools like year comparisons, wind roses or risk assessments.
In summary, the StuMeTa was a great chance for the students to connect, and we are sure that the meteorology-enthusiastic quiz winners will enjoy using our products.
