- Critical fire weather conditions will focus over the Northeast Highlands today. Winds will trend stronger areawide on Saturday as an upper level trough moves through the region. Widespread critical fire weather is likely. Locally extreme fire weather conditions are possible over southeast portions of the forecast area, where wind gusts in excess of 50 mph are expected with Haines up to 6. In the wake of the upper level trough on Sunday, winds will trend weaker but remain strong enough critical fire weather conditions across the Central Highlands.
