Saturday night will be the coldest in the forecast, as temperatures dip into the single digits and teens, with wind chills near to below zero within the Permian Basin and much of the Trans Pecos. Highs Sunday are again forecast to be near to below the freezing mark before slipping into the teens and single digits Sunday night. Temperatures look to finally rise above freezing Monday afternoon. Precipitation chances accompany these very cold conditions Friday through early Sunday. Details on exact timing, accumulations, and precipitation type remain uncertain at this time, through periods and mixes of freezing rain, sleet, and snow are all on the table. Widespread freezing rain and sleet is possible Friday night into Saturday, before mixing with and eventually transitioning into snow Saturday evening into early Sunday. Wintry precipitation accumulations, even if light, will lead to hazardous road conditions.
