Light to moderate rain continues across Kodiak Island this morning with recent observations indicating 0.15 inch per hour rainfall rates. Heavier rain will be possible Saturday afternoon with a second round of heavier rainfall possible during the day on Sunday.

  • WHAT: Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.

  • WHERE: Kodiak Island, including Kodiak City.

  • WHEN: Through late Sunday night.

  • IMPACTS: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Landslides may be possible in areas of steep terrain.

  • ADDITIONAL DETAILS:

    • A prolonged period of rain is forecast across Kodiak Island. Total rainfall amounts of 3 to 6 inches are anticipated. Rain may be heavy at times. With the ground already saturated from previous bouts of rain, flooding of streams and rivers will remain possible.
