At 859 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

IMPACT,Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
- Some locations that will experience flash flooding include, Portales, Dora, Pep and Milnesand.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

In east central New Mexico, Curry County, De Baca County, Quay County and Roosevelt County. In southeast New Mexico, Chaves County Plains and Southwest Chaves County.

- Rounds of showers and storms will continue through tonight. Rainfall rates up to 2 inches per hour will have the potential to produce rapid runoff, especially during the afternoon and evening hours on Thursday. Soils are becoming increasingly saturated from persistent rainfall over the past couple of days, further elevating the risk of flash flooding. Rainfall amounts will generally range from 1 to 2 inches, with isolated totals up to 3 inches.
