Gusty easterly winds continue across the Arctic Coast due to an Arctic High slowly moving west through the end of the week. This, combined with a cold airmass is bringing wind chills as low as -50 F. East to northeast winds of 15 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph continue along the coast east of Wainwright. This will bring periods of blowing snow. An area of open water off the coast from Utqiagvik to Point Lay is limiting the duration of blowing snow along the northwest coast, though brief periods of blizzard conditions will continue, especially from Point Lay to Point Hope. However, the main concern remains to be wind chills approaching -55 F through Thursday morning.
Northerly winds with gusts to 60-70 mph through the Brooks Range passes will also be persistent through the week. This will bring areas of blowing snow and very cold wind chills down to -55F.
Conditions slowly improve by Friday, but wind chills remain below -40F.

Wind gusts around 30 to 40 mph will continue across the Arctic Coast through tonight (locally higher around Point Hope up to 60 mph), leading to areas of blowing snow and very cold wind chills. Winds will gradually lessen on Thursday for Central/Eastern regions as strongest winds shift to being confined to the Western Arctic Coast. Given air temperatures in the -10F to -40F range, wind chills will be even colder down to around -40F to -55F.
