The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in Minnesota

Minnesota River at New Ulm affecting Nicollet, Brown and Blue Earth Counties.

Minnesota River at Savage affecting Scott, Hennepin, Dakota and Carver Counties.

Minnesota River at Mankato affecting Nicollet and Blue Earth Counties.

  • Recent heavy rainfall combined with the forecast of additional rain and high soil moisture will produce additional rises on area rivers. Another round of widespread heavy rain becoming likely Thursday night through Saturday. An additional 2 to 4 inches of rainfall is forecasted to fall during this time.

  • WHAT: Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.

  • WHERE: Cottonwood River at New Ulm.

  • WHEN: Until early Sunday morning.

  • IMPACTS: At 13.1 feet, Flood waters begin to impact Cottonwood Street west of the river.

  • ADDITIONAL DETAILS:

    • At 800 PM CDT Wednesday, the stage was 12.2 feet.
    • Recent Activity: The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 800 PM CDT Wednesday was 12.2 feet.
    • Forecast: The river is expected to fall below flood stage Saturday morning and continue falling to 6.9 feet Wednesday, June 26.
    • Flood stage is 11.0 feet.
    • Flood History: This crest compares to a previous crest of 12.2 feet on 03/30/1960.
