Dry and windy conditions return to the area on Wednesday behind a departing cold front today. Afternoon Relative Humidity values are expected to drop into the 25-30 percent range across NC and the VA Piedmont, with occasional wind gusts of 20 to 25 mph. This combined with dry antecedent conditions over the last month or so will result in increased fire danger across North Carolina and portions of the Virginia Piedmont. This statement is in effect from Wednesday 11am through 7pm. Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether you can burn today. if you do burn, use extreme caution since fires can quickly get out of hand under these conditions.
