Maximum temperatures in the low thirties to low forties, decreasing to high twenties to mid thirties over the North Tropical coast and Tablelands district and also the Herbert and Lower Burdekin district. Overnight minimum temperatures in the high teens to mid twenties. Severe heatwave conditions are expected to continue throughout Cape York Peninsula over the coming days and expand to other parts of northern Queensland during the weekend before beginning to ease next week. Locations likely to be impacted include Aurukun, Kowanyama, Pormpuraaw, Townsville and Weipa.
