  • ADDITIONAL DETAILS:

    • Rainfall amounts from this morning's round of strong to severe thunderstorms are mainly in the 1-3" range. Rainfall rates in the strongest storms were as much as 3-4" per hour, which did lead to localized instances of street flooding. The next round of storms is expected to push through Southeast Texas later this afternoon and into the evening hours. This timing based on the latest model guidance is a bit quicker than previously anticipated, so the Flood Watch will likely be cancelled earlier than the current scheduled expiration time. Still anticipating widespread 2-4" amounts with isolated totals up to 4-6" between this morning's storms and the storms later today. There is potential for an axis of heavy rain later today with totals as high as 2-3". A brief lull in activity will persist through this morning and into the afternoon until the next round of storms develop. Areas that received closer to 2-3" of rain this morning will see this afternoon's rainfall runoff much quicker.
